Frequently Asked Questions

Thinking Man

Why Do You Exist?

Primary care providers are hard to find in Canada. When patients move somewhere new - it is often difficult to find a new family doc or nurse practioner. We help to match up patients to swap their primary care provider.

Confident Businesswoman

Do I have to meet anyone?

Not at all. You won't know who you are swapping with.

Your new provider will only be provided your contact information if *everyone* is agreeable to the swap.

Robot

Why so much $$ for a computer algorithm?

We provide a matching service, with direct human-to-human contact to make sure everyone is happy with the swap. This includes both patients, and both providers. No robots.

Candy from the Jar

Can I pick my doctor?

No. We provide some details, (credentials, and gender), but the identity of the provider is only revealed after the swap. This service is only for family doctors or NPs providing primary care.

You will be offered a swap but have no obligation to accept.

Romance

Do you write romantic stories?

Nope. That's not us. Our lives are dull.

Our Story

We are a physician-led service.

The family doctor shortage is frustrating for both patients and providers.

This is a physician led service. We saw the frustration of patients moving away, and trying to access primary care. We saw patients traveling long distances, just to keep their family doctor or NP.

We also have experienced the frustration of trying to refer patients to specialists in a different region -- which doesn't always work well.

Perhaps the government will step in someday to fix this problem. Until then we will continue to help patients find a primary health care provider.
